"The precise locus of the body's center of gravity is understandably controversial since it will vary with body type and carriage. It tends to center around the lumbosacral junction; and appropriate balance here is therefore of prime importance to bring about coordinated body movement as well as to act as a focus for the individual's kinesthetic sense."
Ida Rolf

As the conduit for force between the legs and torso and the meeting point of the pelvis and spine, the sacroiliac joints are a crucial juncture point in the body. Unfortunately, this is one of the most common sources of pain and discomfort in those that practice yoga. In this clinic we will cover basic spinal anatomy with a focus on the anatomy of the sacroiliac joints. We will then use this information as a foundation for practicing standing yoga postures, as well as basic supine hip-opening movements. We will finish with several stabilization exercises and relaxation positions for alleviating discomfort in the sacroiliac joint and lower back.
