The upper back acts as a support for the head - the heaviest part of the body - and allows flexibility of movement for the arms. It is often very stiff and tense, due to accumulated bad posture over the years. In this workshop, we will study it anatomically, from core muscles to vertebrae structure. We will also examine the positioning of the upper back as part of the whole back bone in various yoga poses, including exercises to open this part of the body, following a safe alignment for a healthy spinal column.
